About our techniques
Arcstudy’s equipment offers the ability to perform high-definition three-dimensional scans. The technology used, “structured light”, allows the acquisition of heterogeneous objects, between the centimeter and several meters in size. The scanner is equipped with a projector that projects onto the object to be captured a series of black and white and color patterns.
A camera system captures pattern deformations and response once projected onto the object. This information is instantly sent to the computer which, through dedicated software, processes its contents by returning the 3D model. The digital object obtained will have the same dimensional and aesthetic characteristics as the original piece, with an accuracy level of 40 microns or 0.04 mm.
The possibility of reconstructing objects three-dimensionally with accuracy allows to make changes to the digital model and then test them on a possible reproduction, with the aim of carrying out studies and analyzes both for retro-engineering, scientific, educational and productive research.
Arcstudy is currently experimenting with new acquisition procedures with the Archaeological Park of Ostia Antica of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities in the context of anthropological research in progress, with the aim of digitizing the human finds found at archaeological excavations in the territory of competence of the Park with the aim of preserving the finds found deteriorated if manipulated and at the same time providing suitable documentary support for the study and research for the dissemination of the results in the field of the international scientific community.

CAN YOU DO A 3D SCAN OF STATUES OR PEOPLE?
Yes, with our portable tools scan a face or the full figure of a statue or person is possible. You can also scan only one limb or hand as needed. The obtained 3D file including textures can be used for a variety of purposes.
CAN I ONLY SCAN MEDIUM OR EVEN LARGE OBJECTS?
Our technologies allow us to operate on very small objects, such as a tooth or ring, up to large objects such as cars or boats, in both cases we will be able to obtain a high-precision scan with an accuracy of 0.04 mm.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO SCAN ARTISTIC OR SCULPTURAL WORKS WITH COMPLEX SHAPES AND SMALL DETAILS?
Of course, our instrumentation allows us to acquire complex shapes of small or large size without neglecting any detail. During the scanning process, in addition to the shape of the object, photos are acquired, they go to compose the texture of the object and help to reconstruct its most articulated parts thus obtaining a 3d model that will be the exact replica of the real object..
